Couple’s Counseling
Do you feel like your relationship is at a standstill? Are you and your partner stuck in the same argument loop every night? Do you feel like you and your partner are drifting away? Do you desire more intimacy between you and your partner? For gay and lesbian couples these issues can have another layer of difficulty due to unrecognized internalized homophobia and trauma that result from growing up in a homophobic society, and the confusion and upset feelings that arise when we try to authentically relate to one another.
All things can be improved, changed and bettered, with just a little support and guidance, no matter how big or small. With couples therapy, you’ll learn how to communicate your feelings and needs, and get what you want out of your relationship.
Some issues that bring couples to therapy are:
- Anger/Arguing
- Balance (Work/Life/Family)
- Blended Families
- Chronic Illness
- Communication Difficulties
- Divorce
- Extended Family
- Infidelity/Cheating
- Intimacy Difficulties
- Mental Illness
- Open Relationships
- Pre-Marital/Readiness
- Pornography
- Sex (lack thereof; differences in desire; top-bottom-versatile issues)
In my couple’s therapy sessions, I help people become more aware of their own personal psychology and that of their partner so they can begin to understand what their arguments are really about for each of them, learn to more effectively argue, and be able to feel resolved on an issue. That is what I think real communication is actually about and can lead to vastly enhanced emotional intimacy and feelings of connectedness between partners.
If any of the above relate to your and your partner in your relationship, contact me today for a free brief consultation. I would love the opportunity to speak with you about how I may be able to help reconnect and rekindle your love and passion with one another.
